About Willoughby Place

An established London provider with a psychology-led approach

Willoughby Place has been supporting vulnerable young people across London since 1997. Today, we operate three 16+ supported accommodation services, each delivering safe, high-quality environments and tailored support for young people preparing for independent adulthood.

Our Story

From 1997 to today

Founded in 1997, Willoughby Place began with a clear conviction: that vulnerable young people approaching adulthood deserve more than accommodation. They deserve a stable, psychologically informed environment that prepares them for the realities of independent living.

Under the ownership and leadership of psychologist Dr Georgia Costa, the organisation has grown into a trusted partner for London local authorities, with three homes and an experienced staff team holding qualifications across social care, psychology and youth support.

Our scale today reflects more than two decades of refinement: a model built on psychological insight, structured support planning and measurable outcomes for the young people we serve.

Mission

Why we exist

"Empowering young people to build confidence, develop life skills and achieve successful transitions into independent living."

We measure ourselves not by occupancy but by outcomes: tenancy sustainment, engagement in education or employment, emotional wellbeing, and the everyday confidence to live independently.

Values

What guides us

Dignity

Every young person is treated as an individual, with respect for their voice, identity and lived experience.

Safeguarding

Robust governance and a culture of vigilance keep our young people safe at every stage.

Aspiration

We hold high expectations and support young people to set and achieve meaningful goals.

Psychology-led

Insight informs every aspect of care, from placement planning to daily practice.

Our Approach

Psychology-led, outcome-focused

Every placement begins with a thorough understanding of the young person, their history, their strengths, their goals. Support plans are built around them and reviewed regularly with psychological input from Dr Costa.

Our staff are trained in trauma-informed practice, recognising that behaviour is communication and that stability is the foundation of growth. We work alongside local authorities, social workers, education providers and health services to give each young person the best chance of a successful transition.

Our Mascot

Meet Cadbury

Cadbury is Dr Georgia's cockapoo and the unofficial Willoughby Place mascot. He visits the homes regularly, drops in on key-work sessions, and rarely misses a birthday or house party. The young people adore him, and for many, the calm, non-judgemental presence of a dog is one of the easiest ways to feel at home.

"A special mention to Cadbury the dog too. I know a number of YP really appreciate the presence of Cadbury and look forward to his visits. The special connection, care and love that animals such as Cadbury can offer is priceless."
